【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=안승대 울산광역시 행정부시장이 내년 6월 치러질 전국동시지방선거에서 포항시장 선거에 출마할 뜻을 밝혔다.
안 부시장은 1996년 지방고시에 합격해 경북 경주시에서 공직생활을 시작한 뒤 주로 행정안전부에서 근무했다. 2024년 4월 행정안전부 지방행정국장에서 1급으로 승진해 울산광역시 행정부시장으로 부임했다.
지방행정과 중앙정책을 두루 경험한 행정 전문가로 평가받으며, 지방경제·문화·체육 등 전 분야에 폭넓은 식견을 갖춘 것으로 알려졌다.
안 부시장은 포항 출신으로 초·중·고를 모두 포항에서 마쳤으며, 해병대 복무 경력도 있다. 그는 포항 발전이 곧 국가 발전이라는 소신 아래 30년 가까이 공직에 몸담아온 경험을 고향 발전에 쏟겠다는 각오다.
그는 행정안전부 선거의회과장, 자치행정과장, 자치분석행정관, 지방행정국장 등 주요 보직을 거쳤으며, 외교통상부와 경제사회발전노사정위원회에서도 근무했다.
또 서울특별시, 세종특별자치시, 행정중심복합도시건설청 등에서 도시행정과 산업정책 관련 업무를 맡는 등 폭넓은 행정경험을 쌓았다.
안 부시장은 현재 포항의 주력산업인 철강산업이 구조적 위기에 처해 있고, 원도심 공동화와 청년 유출이 심화되고 있다고 진단했다.
이에 대응하기 위해 이차전지·바이오·방위산업 등 신산업을 육성하고, 인공지능(AI) 기반의 제조혁신을 통해 산업 경쟁력을 강화해야 한다는 구상을 제시했다.
또 스마트시티 조성, 수소트램 및 도심항공교통(UAM) 도입을 통한 도시 재설계, 부유식 해상풍력·소형모듈원전(SMR)·수소 등 신에너지 산업 육성을 추진해 에너지 자립 기반을 마련하겠다는 계획이다.
이와 함께 울릉도·독도를 포함한 해양물류·관광산업을 활성화해 동해를 유럽의 지중해처럼 발전시키겠다는 비전을 밝혔다.
안 부시장은 산업수도 울산, 문화수도 경주 등 인근 도시들과 협력해 지역 간 균형발전을 이루고, 지역사회 갈등을 극복하는 통합의 리더십으로 포항의 자부심을 회복하겠다고 강조했다.

He is recognized as an administrative expert with extensive experience in both local administration and central policy, and is known to possess a broad understanding of all areas, including the local economy, culture, and sports.
A native of Pohang, Ahn graduated from elementary, middle, and high school in Pohang and served in the Marine Corps. Believing that Pohang's development is directly linked to national development, he is determined to dedicate his nearly 30 years of public service to the development of his hometown.
He held key positions at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, including Director of the Election and Parliamentary Affairs Division, Director of the Local Autonomy Administration Division, Director of the Local Autonomy Analysis Administration, and Director of the Local Administration Bureau. He also served on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Economic and Social Development Labor-Management-Government Commission.
He also gained extensive administrative experience, working in urban administration and industrial policy at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Sejong Special Self-Governing City, and the Multifunctional Administrative City Construction Agency.
Deputy Mayor Ahn diagnosed that Pohang's mainstay steel industry is currently facing a structural crisis, and that the hollowing out of the old city center and youth exodus are worsening.
To address this, he proposed fostering new industries such as secondary batteries, biotechnology, and defense, and strengthening industrial competitiveness through artificial intelligence (AI)-based manufacturing innovation.
Furthermore, he plans to establish a foundation for energy independence by promoting smart city development, urban redesign through the introduction of hydrogen trams and urban air mobility (UAM), and fostering new energy industries such as floating offshore wind power, small modular reactors (SMRs), and hydrogen.
In addition, Deputy Mayor Ahn announced a vision to develop the East Sea into akin to the Mediterranean Sea in Europe by revitalizing the maritime logistics and tourism industries, including those in Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
Deputy Mayor Ahn emphasized his commitment to achieving balanced regional development through cooperation with neighboring cities, including the industrial capital Ulsan and the cultural capital Gyeongju, and to restoring Pohang's pride through integrated leadership that overcomes community conflicts.
