최은석 의원 “대구 군공항 이전, 대통령 공약…정부가 직접 나서야”

최 의원이 공개한 자료에 따르면, 2020년 군소음보상법 시행 이후 현재까지 대구 지역에 지급된 보상금은 790억 원이며, 집단소송 배상금 5,226억 원을 포함하면 누적액은 6천억 원을 넘는다. 보상 대상자는 62만 명으로, 매년 평균 260억 원대의 보상금이 지급되고 있다.

그는 “대구의 소음 피해는 수원과 광주보다 훨씬 심각하다”며 “보상 인원은 수원의 1.5배, 광주의 2.3배, 지급액은 각각의 두 배 이상”이라고 말했다. 이어 “이 추세가 10년간 이어질 경우 보상 규모만 1조 원을 넘어설 것”이라며 “정부가 손 놓고 있을 단계가 아니다”고 비판했다.

또 “가덕도 신공항과 제주 제2공항은 국토부가 주도했지만, 국가 안보와 직결된 대구경북 신공항은 지방정부에 떠넘겨졌다”며 “이는 명백한 불균형이며 중앙정부의 책무를 회피하는 행정”이라고 꼬집었다.

최 의원은 “일본 후텐마, 사우디 리야드, 싱가포르 파야 레바르 공항 등 해외 사례를 봐도 모두 중앙정부가 직접 시행 주체였다”며 “대구 군공항 이전은 단순한 지역 현안이 아니라 국가 안보와 균형발전, 국민 생활권 보장에 맞닿은 국가적 과제”라고 강조했다.

그는 “대통령이 직접 약속한 사안인 만큼 대통령실이 주관하는 범정부 협의체 구성이 시급하다”며 “기재부를 비롯한 관계 부처가 실질적인 역할을 하지 않으면 군공항 이전은 또다시 수년간 표류하게 될 것”이라고 경고했다.

이에 대해 구윤철 부총리 겸 기획재정부 장관은 “대구 군공항 이전이 적극적으로 추진될 수 있도록 정부가 지원하겠다”고 답했다.

He warned, "If the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and other relevant ministries fail to play a substantive role, the relocation of the military airport will once again be delayed for years."

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Koo Yoon-chul responded, "The government will provide support so that the relocation of the Daegu military airport can be actively pursued."
