본회의 개회에 앞서 진행된 5분 자유발언에서 김소현 의원은 ‘사람과 기술이 함께 만드는 경주형 원자력 생태계’, 한순희 의원은 ‘간병에 대한 공공 지원 강화’, 정성룡 의원은 ‘소규모 소나무 군락지의 재선충병 실태조사 및 체계적 관리 필요성’을 주제로 각각 의견을 제시했다.
이어진 제1차 본회의에서는 ▲제293회 임시회 회기결정의 건 ▲회의록 서명의원 선임의 건 ▲경주개 동경이 관리위원회 등 위원 추천의 건 등이 순서대로 처리됐다.
이번 임시회는 10월 17일부터 23일까지 휴회기간을 두고 각 상임위원회별로 조례안 10건, 동의안 12건, 보고 9건 등 총 31건의 안건을 심사·청취할 예정이다. 특히 최영기 의원이 대표 발의한 ‘경주시 교통안전 증진을 위한 지원 조례 일부개정조례안’이 상정돼 관심을 모은다.
이동협 의장은 개회사를 통해 “APEC 2025 KOREA 준비에 최선을 다하고 있는 공직자와 시민 여러분의 노고에 감사드린다”며 “경주가 세계 속에 빛나는 도시로 자리매김할 수 있도록 마지막까지 세심한 준비와 친절한 응대에 최선을 다해 달라”고 당부했다.
한편, 제293회 경주시의회 임시회는 오는 24일 제2차 본회의를 끝으로 9일간의 일정을 마무리할 예정이다.

Gyeongju City Council Convenes 293rd Extraordinary Session, Begins 9-Day Session
The Gyeongju City Council (Chairman Lee Dong-hyeop) held the first plenary session of its 293rd Extraordinary Session in its main conference hall on the 16th, beginning a nine-day session.
