【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구시교육청이 ‘제1회 WOW(World Outside the Walls) 페스티벌’을 연다고 16일 밝혔다.
올해 처음 열리는 이번 행사는 오는 18일 오전 9시 대구글로벌교육센터에서 진행되며 초·중·고 학생과 학부모, 교원 등 1,000여 명이 참여할 예정이다.
지난해까지 각각 운영되던 ‘교육국제화특구 페스티벌’과 ‘학생 주도 글로벌 동아리 페스티벌’을 통합한 행사는 학교 교육과정과 연계한 교육국제화 및 외국어 교육 활동의 성과를 공유하고, 다양한 체험 프로그램을 제공하기 위해 마련됐다.
‘교육국제화 체험관’에서는 대구교육국제화특구(북구·달서구·수성구) 내 학교와 교원 연구회가 참여해 초등 영어 ‘꿈을 향한 진로 탐험대’, 중등 영어 ‘Challenge with AI’, 일본 문화 체험 ‘일본 한바퀴! 일본어 랜드’, 중국 문화 체험 ‘중추절 문화 체험’, 세계시민 체험활동 ‘SDG 워너비’ 등 다양한 프로그램을 운영한다.
‘외국어 교육활동 체험관’에서는 학생 주도 글로벌 동아리 61팀을 비롯해 원어민과 함께하는 창의성 캠프 28팀, 영어 인문학 독서 리더학교 9팀이 참여한다. 전시와 체험, 공연, 발표 등으로 구성된 ▲Display ▲Display & Explain ▲Activity ▲Let’s Talk ▲Let’s Play의 5개 영역에서 다채로운 활동이 진행된다.
강은희 교육감은 “학생들이 이번 페스티벌을 통해 더 넓은 세상과 다양한 문화를 경험하고, 글로벌 감각과 소통 역량을 키우는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “국제화 교육이 미래 인재 양성의 토대가 되도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 16th that it will host the "1st WOW (World Outside the Walls) Festival."
This inaugural event will be held at the Daegu Global Education Center at 9:00 AM on the 18th. Approximately 1,000 elementary, middle, and high school students, parents, and teachers are expected to participate.
This event, which combines the "Education Internationalization Special Zone Festival" and the "Student-Led Global Club Festival," previously held separately, aims to share the achievements of educational internationalization and foreign language education activities linked to school curricula and provide diverse experiential programs.
The "Education Internationalization Experience Center" will feature participation from schools and teacher research groups within the Daegu Education International Zone (Buk-gu, Dalseo-gu, and Suseong-gu). The festival will feature the elementary English "Dream Career Exploration Team," the middle school English "Challenge with AI," and the Japanese cultural experience "A Tour of Japan! Various programs are offered, including "Japanese Land," the Chinese cultural experience "Mid-Autumn Festival Cultural Experience," and the global citizenship experience "SDG Wannabe."
The "Foreign Language Education Activity Experience Center" will feature 61 student-led global clubs, 28 teams participating in the Creativity Camp with native speakers, and nine teams participating in the English Humanities Reading Leader School. A variety of activities will be held across five areas: ▲Display ▲Display & Explain ▲Activity ▲Let's Talk ▲Let's Play, featuring exhibitions, hands-on activities, performances, and presentations.
Superintendent Kang Eun-hee stated, "I hope this festival will provide students with an opportunity to experience a wider world and diverse cultures, and develop global awareness and communication skills. We will actively support international education to become the foundation for nurturing future talent."
