도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 19일(현지시간) 민주당 성향 연방 정부 '셧 다운(일시적 업무 정지)' 지속 사태 관련해 "민주당이 실수한 것"이라고 밝혔다.
트럼프 대통령은 이날 보도된 '폭스 뉴스' 인터뷰에서 “솔직히 말해 지금 우리가 하는 일은 우리가 원치 않았던 민주당 프로그램을 없애는 것”이라며 이같이 말했다.
민주당은 건강보험 프로그램 ‘오바마 케어’의 보조금 지급 연장을 주장하며 공화당이 낸 임시 예산안 처리에 반대하고 있는 가운데 이로 인한 연방 정부 셧 다운이 지난 1일부터 19일째 이어지고 있다.

더불어 미 연방 대법원의 '관세 위법' 판결 가능성에 대비한 대응책 관련해선 “방법을 찾아야 할 것이며 그런 일이 일어나면 우리는 돈을 돌려줘야 할 것”이라며 "만약 대법원이 관세를 없앤다면 우리 국가 안보를 앗아가는 것”이라고 했다.
