브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 노동진 수협중앙회장은 20일 로제리오 아라우주 멘돈사 동티모르 직업훈련고용청 국무장관과 만나, 양국 간 수산분야 인력 교류 확대와 정보 공유를 위한 협력 방안을 논의했다.
이번 면담은 동티모르 대표단의 방한 일정 중 하나로, 한국 내 동티모르 근로자의 고용 확대와 복지 증진을 위한 정책 협의와 의견 교환을 목적으로 진행됐다. 면담에는 로제리오 장관과 동티모르 고용청 관계자, 안토니오 데 사 베네비데즈 주한 동티모르 대사를 비롯한 대사관 관계자들도 함께 참석했다.
양측은 ▲한국 내 동티모르 근로자의 보호 및 복지 증진 대책 ▲동티모르 근로자 고용 확대 ▲동티모르 수산산업 발전을 위한 기술 교류와 협력 방안 등을 중심으로 심도 있는 논의를 이어갔다.
로제리오 장관은 이 자리에서 “동티모르인이 한국에서 쌓은 경험과 기술을 바탕으로 자국 수산업 발전에 기여할 수 있는 부분이 많다”며 “앞으로도 고용허가제를 통한 동티모르 근로자의 고용 기회 확대를 위해 지속적으로 협력해 나가길 희망한다”고 말했다.
노동진 회장은 “동티모르가 한국 수산업에 보내주신 높은 관심과 애정에 감사드린다”며, “앞으로도 동티모르 근로자들이 한국 수산업에서 중추적인 역할을 할 수 있도록 지속적인 관심과 지원을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 2025년 고용허가제(E-9) 어업 분야로 입국한 외국인 근로자는 9월 말 기준 3483명이며, 이 중 동티모르 근로자는 317명(9.1%)으로 국내 20톤 미만 연근해어선, 양식장, 천일염 생산 현장 등 다양한 수산업 분야에서 활동하고 있다.

On the 20th, Chairman Noh Dong-jin of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives (NFC) met with Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment of Timor-Leste, Rogerio Araujo Mendonza, to discuss ways to expand human resource exchange and information sharing in the fisheries sector between the two countries.

Minister Rogerio stated, "There are many areas where East Timorese can contribute to the development of their own fishing industry, leveraging the experience and skills they have gained in Korea." Meanwhile, as of the end of September, 3,483 foreign workers entered the Korean fishing industry under the Employment Permit System (E-9) in 2025. Of these, 317 (9.1%) are from East Timor.
