브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 대통령은 20일 경기도 고양시 일산 킨텍스에서 열린 서울 국제항공우주 및 방위산업 전시회(ADEX) 2025 개막식에서 “정부는 더욱 과감한 투자와 지원으로 대한민국을 글로벌 4대 방위산업·항공우주 강국으로 도약시키겠다”고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 축사에서 “정부는 국방 개혁에 민간이 적극 참여하고 주도적인 역할을 수행할 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”며 “2030년까지 국방과 항공우주 연구개발(R&D)에 대대적인 예산을 투입해 핵심기술과 무기체계를 확보하고 독자적 우주개발 역량을 구축하겠다”고 말했다.
또한, 특수반도체 등 국방 분야 핵심 기술과 부품, 소재 개발에 투자를 집중하고, 혁신 기술이 산업 현장에 신속히 도입될 수 있도록 정책과 제도를 개선하겠다고 강조했다. 아울러 민간 기술과 장비를 군에 적용할 수 있는 방위산업 패스트트랙 제도를 도입·확대하고, 중소기업과 스타트업이 방위산업과 항공우주 분야에 참여할 수 있도록 진입 장벽을 낮추겠다고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 “우리나라가 외국 무기를 받아 쓰는 국가에서 세계 5대 국방 강국, 방산 수주 100억 달러 시대를 연 것은 역대 정부의 방위산업·항공우주 육성 덕분”이라며, “세계 시장에서 K-방산의 경쟁력을 확보하려면 단순 제품 수출을 넘어 안보 협력 파트너로서의 브랜드 가치를 제시해야 한다”고 말했다.
이어 “대한민국은 협력국에 무기체계뿐 아니라 산업 기반 구축 기술과 경험을 공유하며 확실한 신뢰로 연대하는 든든한 동반자가 되겠다”며, “방위산업과 항공우주 산업이 세계 평화와 국민 삶 향상에 기여하는 자랑스러운 이름이 되도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
한편, 이날 행사에는 위성락 국가안보실장, 하준경 경제성장수석, 하정우 AI미래기획수석, 안규백 국방부 장관, 류제명 과기정통부 2차관, 문신학 산업부 1차관, 강희업 국토부 2차관, 석종건 방위사업청장, 윤영빈 우주항공청장, 박선원 더불어민주당 의원, 진영승 합참의장 등이 참석했다.

At the opening ceremony of the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2025, held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, on the 20th, President Lee Jae-myung announced, "The government will make bolder investments and support to help Korea leap forward as one of the top four global defense industry and aerospace powerhouses."
In his congratulatory remarks, President Lee stated, "The government will spare no effort in supporting the private sector to actively participate and play a leading role in defense reform." He added, "By 2030, we will invest a large amount of our budget in defense and aerospace research and development (R&D) to secure core technologies and weapons systems and build independent space development capabilities."
He also emphasized his commitment to focusing investment on the development of core defense technologies, components, and materials, such as specialized semiconductors, and to improving policies and systems to ensure the rapid adoption of innovative technologies in industrial settings. He also announced plans to introduce and expand a defense industry fast-track system that allows civilian technology and equipment to be applied to the military, and to lower entry barriers for small and medium-sized enterprises and startups to participate in the defense and aerospace sectors.
President Lee stated, "Our country, from a country that relied on foreign weapons to one of the world's top five defense powers and ushered in an era of $10 billion in defense industry orders, is thanks to the fostering of the defense and aerospace industries by past administrations." He added, "To secure the competitiveness of the Korean defense industry in the global market, we must go beyond simple product exports and demonstrate our brand value as a security cooperation partner."
He continued, "The Republic of Korea will become a strong partner, sharing not only weapons systems but also the technology and experience of building industrial infrastructure with partner countries, fostering solidarity based on unwavering trust. We will do our utmost to ensure that the defense and aerospace industries become a proud name that contributes to world peace and the improvement of people's lives."
Meanwhile, the event was attended by National Security Office Director Wi Seong-rak, Senior Secretary for Economic Growth Ha Joon-kyung, Senior Secretary for AI and Future Planning Ha Jung-woo, Minister of National Defense Ahn Gyu-baek, Second Vice Minister of Science and ICT Ryu Je-myung, First Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Moon Shin-hak, Second Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kang Hee-eop, Defense Acquisition Program Administration Administrator Seok Jong-geon, Korea Aerospace Industries Administrator Yoon Young-bin, Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Park Sun-won, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Jin Young-seung.
