‘스마트 횡단보도’는 보행자와 운전자의 인지력을 높이고 교통사고를 예방하기 위한 바닥형 보행신호등, 적색신호 잔여시간 표시기, 보행신호 음성안내 보조장치, 활주로형 횡단보도 등의 교통안전시설물로 구성돼 있다.
설치는 통학로, 상업시설, 아파트 단지 인근 등 유동인구가 많은 곳을 대상으로 했다.
구체적으로 갈산역사거리, 래미안부평사거리, 부평기적의도서관사거리, 산삼사거리, 삼산월드체육관사거리, 세월천사거리, 영선초사거리, 청천사거리 등 8곳이다.
