대구시교육청은 지난 20일 오후 2시 한국어교육센터에서 대구 7개 구와 2개 군의 지역별 가족센터장들과 '이주배경학생 통합지원을 위한 협의회'를 열었다.
지역 내 이주배경 학생이 꾸준히 늘고 있는 가운데 외국인 학생과 고등학생 비율이 높아지는 변화에 대응하기 위해서다.
이날 협의회를 통해 대구시교육청과 지역 가족센터는 이주배경 학생 지원의 사각지대 해소와 중복지원 방지, 그리고 학생 맞춤형 통합지원 체계 구축을 주요 목표로 논의를 진행했다.
각 구·군 가족센터의 한국어교육과 상담, 지역 연계 프로그램 운영 현황 등을 나누고, 학교 현장 중심의 이주배경 학생 한국어교육과 진로지원 방향을 협의했다. 또한 밀집지역(달서구, 달성군) 안의 학교 간 협력과 학생 유형별(외국인 학생, 중도입국 학생, 고등학생) 변화 추이에 따른 지속 가능한 지역 협력 모델 구축 방안도 함께 모색했다.
달서구 원준호 가족센터장은 "이번 협의회를 통해 기관 간 정보 나눔과 협력 체계를 더욱 단단히 하여 지원의 빈틈을 줄이고 현장 중심의 실질적인 지원이 이뤄지도록 하겠다"고 말했다.
강은희 교육감은 "이주배경 학생이 언어·문화의 벽을 넘어 소외되지 않고 자신의 꿈을 키워갈 수 있도록 돕는 것은 학교와 지역사회의 책무"라며 "앞으로도 지역의 다양한 기관과 협력하여 모든 학생이 함께 성장할 수 있는 포용적 교육환경을 만들어 가겠다"고 밝혔다.

Won Jun-ho, Director of the Dalseo-gu Family Center, stated, "Through this meeting, we will further strengthen the inter-agency information sharing and cooperation system to reduce support gaps and ensure practical, on-site support."
Superintendent Kang Eun-hee stated, "It is the responsibility of schools and local communities to help students with immigrant backgrounds overcome language and cultural barriers and pursue their dreams without being marginalized. We will continue to collaborate with various local organizations to create an inclusive educational environment where all students can grow together."
