전통 불화(佛畵)의 맥을 잇는 단청장(丹靑匠) 박정자 작가의 ‘전통 불화전&그림옷전’이 오는 11월 14일(금) 오후 4시, 나주시 죽림동 연주갤러리(대표 이경희 화백)에서 개막된다.
이번 전시는 윤병태 나주시장을 비롯해 문화예술계 주요 인사들이 참석한 가운데 테이프 커팅과 축하 인사, 관람으로 이어질 예정이다.
사전 행사로는 작사가이자 작곡가인 진정 씨가 기획한 헌정 공연 ‘관랑천 무대’가 마련돼 불화와 노래가 어우러지는 감동의 순간을 선사한다.
공연에는 첼리스트 구동숙(카잘스챔버오케스트라 단장)의 ‘자클린의 눈물’ 연주와 진정의 자작곡 ‘동백꽃 필 때면’, 그리고 진정 작사·정의송 작곡·소소향 노래의 ‘님의 향기’가 무대를 채운다.

박정자 명장은 이번 전시에서 전통 불화 30점, 제자 작품 10점, 그림옷 10점 등 총 50여 점을 선보인다. 특히 전통 불화의 꽃술과 공작의 깃 등에 다이아몬드형 장식과 현대적 색채를 가미한 작품들이 주목받고 있다. 또한 불화의 이미지를 입체화한 ‘그림옷’은 전통미와 현대 감각이 조화를 이룬 새로운 시도라는 평가를 받고 있다.

진정은 나주시 토계동(현 송월동) 출신으로, 나주와 영산강을 주제로 한 ‘아랑사 아비사 사랑’, ‘홍어의 노래’, ‘영산포로 가는 길’ 등 40여 곡의 창작곡을 발표한 지역 대표 예술인으로 클레식, 가요, 트롯, 국악 등 다양한 장르의 노래를 발표한 바 있다.
진정은 “단청장 박정자 선생님의 예술혼을 어머니의 마음으로 존경하며, 나주를 노래로 헌정하고 싶었다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
연주갤러리 이경희 대표는 “불화와 노래가 함께하는 이번 전시는 나주의 예술혼을 담은 특별한 자리”라며 “앞으로도 전통과 현대가 만나는 예술문화의 장으로 발전시켜 나가겠다”고 말했다.
전시는 개막 이후 나주 연주갤러리(구 나주역, 제일교회 앞)에서 상시 관람할 수 있으며, 시민 누구나 무료로 입장 가능하다.

Park Jeong-ja, a Dancheong master who carries on the tradition of traditional Buddhist painting, will hold her "Traditional Buddhist Painting & Painting Clothes Exhibition" at Yeonju Gallery (Director: Artist Lee Kyung-hee) in Jukrim-dong, Naju, on Friday, November 14th at 4:00 PM.
The exhibition will be attended by Naju Mayor Yoon Byung-tae and other prominent figures in the arts and culture community, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, congratulatory remarks, and a viewing.
A pre-event will feature a tribute performance, "Gwanrangcheon Stage," curated by lyricist and composer Jin Jeong, offering a moving fusion of Buddhist painting and song.
The performance will feature cellist Dong-sook Koo (Director of the Casals Chamber Orchestra) performing "Jacqueline's Tears," Jinjeong's original composition "When the Camellia Blooms," and "Your Scent," written by Jinjeong, composed by Jeong Eui-song, and sung by So So-hyang.
Master Park Jeong-ja will present approximately 50 works in this exhibition, including 30 traditional Buddhist paintings, 10 works by her students, and 10 painted garments. Her works, featuring diamond-shaped decorations and modern colors on the stamens and peacock feathers of traditional Buddhist paintings, are particularly noteworthy. Furthermore, her "painted garments," which three-dimensionalize Buddhist images, are receiving acclaim for their innovative approach, harmonizing traditional beauty with a modern sensibility.
Jeong, originally from Togye-dong (now Songwol-dong) in Naju City, is a renowned local artist who has produced over 40 original compositions themed on Naju and the Yeongsan River, including "Arangsa Abisa Sarang," "Song of Hong-eo," and "The Road to Yeongsanpo.“
Jinjeong expressed her feelings, saying, "With a mother's heart, I respect the artistic spirit of Dancheong master Park Jeong-ja, and I wanted to dedicate Naju to song.“

The exhibition will be open to the public at the Naju Yeonju Gallery (formerly Naju Station, in front of Jeil Church) from its opening day, and admission is free to all citizens.
