연구용역은 지난 6월부터 약 4개월간 굴포천과 지류 하천의 현황 조사, 생태하천 우수관리 및 활용 사례 조사, 부평구 주민 대상 설문조사, 체계적이고 지속 가능한 사후관리 시스템 구축 등을 중심으로 진행했으며, 이를 바탕으로 굴포천의 지속적인 생태하천 활성화 및 주민과의 연계를 통한 사후관리 방안을 제시하였다.
