【브레이크뉴스 영천】박영재 기자=영천 충효사(회주 원감 해공스님)는 이달 24일 대한노인회 영천시지부 및 부설 영천시노인대학 어르신들의 졸업여행을 후원하며 따뜻한 자비행을 실천했다.

이번 졸업여행은 영천노인대학에서 특강을 진행하고 다양한 지원을 이어오며 어르신들의 복지와 교육에 남다른 관심을 보여온 해공스님의 뜻에 따라 마련됐다.
어르신들은 이날 오전 영천체육관 앞을 출발해 경천섬, 국립낙동강생물자원관, 문경 조령산 흥천사, 박정희대통령 역사박물관 등을 순례하며 뜻깊은 하루를 보냈다.
흥천사에서는 참배와 함께 점심공양 및 선물 증정식이 진행됐다. 이 자리에서 대한노인회 영천시지부 회장과 영천노인대학장은 졸업여행을 주선한 해공스님께 감사의 뜻을 전하며 꽃다발과 보시금을 전달했다.
이 보시금은 흥천사 동봉스님께 전달됐으며, 동봉스님은 “환영해 주신 데 대해 감사드린다”고 인사를 전했다.
해공스님은 “어르신들께서 졸업여행 겸 나들이를 오셨는데 건강히 다녀오시길 바란다”며 “충효사는 언제나 지역 어르신들을 위해 효도관광과 효도잔치 등 나눔의 자리를 지속적으로 마련하겠다”고 격려의 말씀을 전했다.
영천노인대학장은 “큰스님의 깊은 배려 덕분에 학생들이 즐겁게 졸업여행을 다녀올 수 있었다”며 “항상 지역 어르신들을 위해 베풀어 주시는 자비심에 감사드린다”고 말했다.
한편 이날 방문지인 조령산 흥천사의 회주 무애 동봉스님은 “충효사 원감 해공큰스님은 영천은 물론 한국 불교계의 큰 어른이시다”며 “스님의 장학금 기부와 꾸준한 자비행은 지역사회에 귀감이 되고 있다”고 찬탄했다.
어르신들은 흥천사 참배를 마친 후 구미 박정희대통령 역사박물관을 방문해 전시를 관람하며 박 대통령의 생애와 발자취를 돌아보는 시간을 가졌다.

Yeongcheon Chunghyo Temple (Director Venerable Haegong) sponsored a graduation trip for seniors from the Yeongcheon City Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association and its affiliated Yeongcheon City Senior College on the 24th of this month, demonstrating a heartwarming act of compassion.
This graduation trip was organized in accordance with the wishes of Venerable Haegong, who has demonstrated exceptional interest in the welfare and education of seniors by giving special lectures and providing various support at the Yeongcheon Senior College.

Ven. Haegong offered words of encouragement, saying, "The seniors have come on a graduation trip and outing. I hope they stay healthy." He added, "Chunghyo Temple will continue to provide opportunities for sharing, such as filial piety tours and filial piety feasts, for the local seniors."
The Dean of Yeongcheon Senior Citizens' College said, "Thanks to the great monk's deep consideration, the students were able to enjoy their graduation trip. I am grateful for his compassionate devotion to the local seniors."
Meanwhile, Venerable Muae Dongbong, the head monk of Heungcheonsa Temple on Mount Joryeong, praised the students, saying, "Ven. Haegong, the abbot of Chunghyo Temple, is a great leader not only in Yeongcheon but also in Korean Buddhism. His scholarship donations and consistent acts of charity are a model for the local community."
After paying their respects at Heungcheonsa Temple, the seniors visited the Gumi Park Chung-hee Presidential Museum and took time to look back on President Park's life and footsteps while viewing the exhibition.
