이번 발표회는 더불어민주당, 국민의힘, 조국혁신당, 개혁신당, 진보당 정책위원회와 국회입법조사처가 공동 주최했으며, 국회 차원에서 처음으로 다차원적 불평등 지수를 개발한 연구결과를 공개했다.
우 의장은 "불평등은 우리가 어떤 사회를 설계하고 어떤 정책을 선택하느냐에 따라 달라지는 것이지, 결코 불가피한 것이 아니다"며 "우리는 불평등 문제를 극복할 수 있고, 극복해야 한다"고 역설했다.

그는 특히 이번 연구가 소득·자산뿐 아니라 교육, 건강 등 다양한 영역의 불평등을 다차원적으로 분석한 점을 높이 평가하며 “자산 형성의 기회, 교육의 질, 건강 접근성 등 균형 있는 정책 대응이 필요하다”고 말했다.
