【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 동구를 대표하는 역사 문화축제인 ‘용암산성 옥샘문화제’가 지난 25일 불로천 다목적광장 특설무대에서 개최됐다.
올해로 18회를 맞은 이 축제는 임진왜란 당시 백성들과 의병들이 왜군에 맞서 싸우며 나라를 지켜낸 역사적 의미를 되새기기 위해 마련됐다.
행사에서는 옥샘 제례를 비롯해 전통공연 재연, 축하공연, 주민 노래자랑 등 다양한 프로그램이 펼쳐졌다. 제례행사에서는 용암산성을 지켰던 선조들의 희생정신을 기리며 참석자들이 고개를 숙였다.
전통공연 재연은 임진왜란 항쟁 당시의 모습을 생동감 있게 그려내 관람객들의 박수를 받았다. 이어진 축하공연과 주민 노래자랑에서는 지역 주민들이 직접 무대에 올라 화합을 다지는 시간을 가졌다.
최범영 축제위원장은 “지역의 역사를 계승하고 주민 화합을 이루는 자리가 되도록 힘썼다”고 밝혔다.
윤석준 동구청장은 “용암산성 옥샘문화제가 우리 지역의 역사적 정체성과 정신을 기리는 뜻깊은 행사로 자리매김하고 있다”며 “앞으로도 지역 대표 축제로 발전할 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 용암산성은 임진왜란 당시 대구 지역 방어의 핵심 거점이었다. 산성에서 솟아나는 옥샘은 성을 지키던 이들에게 귀중한 식수원이 됐다. 옥샘문화제는 이 같은 역사적 의미를 되살리고, 지역의 정체성을 후세에 전하기 위해 매년 이어지고 있다.

The "Yongamsanseong Oksaem Cultural Festival," a representative historical and cultural festival of Daegu's Dong-gu District, was held on the 25th at a specially constructed stage at the Bullocheon Multipurpose Plaza.

Dong-gu District Mayor Yoon Seok-jun stated, "The Yongamsanseong Oksaem Cultural Festival has established itself as a meaningful event that honors the historical identity and spirit of our region. We will continue to provide unwavering support so that it can develop into a representative local festival."
Meanwhile, Yongamsanseong Fortress served as a key defensive stronghold for the Daegu region during the Imjin War. The Oksaem spring, flowing from the fortress, provided a valuable source of drinking water for those defending the fortress. The Oksaem Cultural Festival continues annually to revive this historical significance and pass on the region's identity to future generations.
