이번 프로그램은 조선시대 서당의 학습문화를 주제로, 어린이들이 선비들의 공부도구를 직접 제작하며 옛 배움의 가치를 체험하도록 구성됐다.
체험은 이론 10분, 만들기 40분으로 진행되며, 참가자들은 조선시대 선비들이 사용하던 붓, 벼루, 종이, 필통 등의 의미를 배우고, 나무필통 표면에 전통 문양을 꾸미거나 이름·좌우명을 새겨 ‘나만의 선비필통’을 완성하게 된다.
참가를 원하는 가족은 의성군청 홈페이지 통합예약사이트(usc.go.kr) 또는 전화(054-830-6918)를 통해 신청할 수 있으며, 선착순 25명, 참가비는 5,000원이다. 신청 기간은 11월 1일(토)부터 21일(금) 오후 5시까지다.
김주수 의성군수는 “이번 체험은 단순한 만들기를 넘어, 조선 선비들의 예절과 성실함, 배움의 자세를 자연스럽게 익힐 수 있도록 기획했다”며 “아이들이 역사와 전통문화를 흥미롭게 배우는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

Uiseong County (Governor Kim Ju-su) announced on the 30th that the Uiseong Joseon Museum will host a children's historical experience program, "On the Desks of Joseon Scholars - Making Wooden Pencil Cases," every weekend in November.
The program, themed on the learning culture of seodang (private schools) during the Joseon Dynasty, allows children to experience the value of learning through hands-on crafting of scholar-official study tools.
The program consists of a 10-minute theory session and a 40-minute crafting session. Participants will learn the meaning of the brushes, inkstones, paper, and pencil cases used by Joseon scholars. They will then decorate the surface of the wooden pencil case with traditional patterns or engrave their names and mottos to create their own "scholar-style pencil case."
Families interested in participating can register through the Uiseong County Office website's integrated reservation site (usc.go.kr) or by phone (054-830-6918). The first 25 participants are accepted, and the registration fee is 5,000 won. The registration period runs from Saturday, November 1st to Friday, November 21st, 5:00 PM.
Uiseong County Mayor Kim Ju-soo said, "This experience goes beyond simple crafting. It's designed to naturally foster the etiquette, diligence, and learning attitude of Joseon scholars. I hope this will be an engaging opportunity for children to learn about history and traditional culture."
