【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=선린대학교(총장 곽진환) 국제교류교육센터 소속 유학생들이 지난 10월 26일 포항시 호동 근로자종합복지관에서 열린 ‘제21회 국제친선축구대회’에서 준우승을 차지했다.

이번 대회는 대구경북세계선교회협의회가 주최하고 말씀숲교회가 주관했으며, 지역 내 외국인 근로자, 결혼이민자, 유학생 등이 함께 참여해 국제 친선과 화합을 도모하는 자리로 마련됐다.
선린대에서는 어학연수 중인 외국인 학생 30여 명이 선수단과 응원단으로 참가해 선의의 경쟁을 펼치며, 다양한 국적의 참가자들과 교류하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다.
대회 현장에서는 축구 경기 외에도 전통문화 공연, 외국인 노래 경연대회, 전통놀이 체험 등 다채로운 부대행사가 진행돼 참가자들에게 풍성한 볼거리와 즐거움을 선사했다.
김우재 국제교류교육센터 팀장은 “유학생들이 스포츠를 통해 지역사회와 교류하고 한국문화를 체험할 수 있는 값진 기회였다”며 “앞으로도 지역과 함께하는 국제교류 프로그램을 지속 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 선린대학교에는 베트남, 몽골, 키르기스스탄, 우즈베키스탄 등 다양한 국가 출신의 150여 명의 외국인 유학생이 재학 중이다. 학교는 유학생들의 안정적 정착을 위해 학업·정주·취업 지원과 생활상담 등 맞춤형 프로그램을 운영하며, 지역사회와 함께 성장하는 글로벌 인재 양성에 힘쓰고 있다.
