[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 지난 2020년 11월 도입한 ‘진주-사천 간 광역환승 할인제’ 누적 이용객이 51만 명을 돌파했다고 3일 밝혔다.
이 제도는 시내버스와 시외버스 환승 시 시내버스 요금만큼 할인 혜택을 제공해 시민들의 교통비 부담을 줄이고 대중교통 이용을 촉진하기 위해 시행됐다.
진주와 사천은 산업·교육·의료·상업 등 생활권이 연결돼 출퇴근과 통학 인구가 많아, 환승 할인제의 호응이 높다.
시는 제도 시행으로 시민 편의 향상과 교통비 절감, 교통 혼잡 완화, 탄소배출 감소 등 효과가 나타났다고 설명했다.
진주시는 지난 10월부터 이 제도를 전국으로 확대하는 ‘진주형 마스(MaaS·Mobility as a Service)’ 사업을 추진하고 있다.
