중구청은 지난달 30일 구청 상황실에서 ‘김광석길 다목적 입체 로드 갤러리 조성사업’ 착수보고회를 열고, 김광석길의 공간 혁신을 본격적으로 추진한다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업의 핵심은 평면 벽화거리였던 김광석길을 입체 전시와 공연이 가능한 복합 문화공간으로 재구성하는 데 있다. 중구는 김광석길의 예술성과 상징성을 한층 높이고, 관광객에게 새로운 문화 체험 기회를 제공한다는 구상이다.
사업 대상지는 대봉동 6-11번지 일원, 김광석길 야외콘서트홀 인근이다. 총 8억 원의 예산이 투입되며, 공사 기간은 약 6개월로 예정됐다.
이날 보고회에는 구청 관계자와 구의원, 디자인 전문가, 김광석길 관광활성화 협의체 회원 등이 참석해 사업 추진 방향과 디자인 구상안을 공유했다. 특히 참석자들은 김광석 음악의 감성을 살린 창의적인 디자인과, 지역 상권 활성화로 이어질 구체적인 방안에 대해 의견을 나눴다.
중구는 앞으로도 사업 전 과정에서 전문가 자문은 물론 주민과 상인의 의견을 폭넓게 수렴해, 김광석길을 도심 속 문화예술 명소로 키운다는 방침이다.
류규하 중구청장은 “김광석길이 단순 벽화거리를 넘어 시민과 관광객이 함께 즐기고 추억을 쌓을 수 있는 문화예술 공간으로 새롭게 거듭날 것”이라며 “지역의 정체성과 문화 자산을 살린 지속 가능한 관광 인프라 조성에도 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

The briefing session was attended by district office officials, district council members, design experts, and members of the Kim Gwang-seok Street Tourism Promotion Council, who shared the project's direction and design plans. In particular, attendees discussed creative designs that capture the sensibility of Kim Kwang-seok's music and specific measures to revitalize the local commercial district.
Jung-gu plans to continue to cultivate Kim Kwang-seok Street as a cultural and artistic destination in the city by broadly gathering input from residents and merchants, as well as expert advice, throughout the entire project process.
Jung-gu Mayor Ryu Gyu-ha stated, "Kim Kwang-seok Street will be reborn as a cultural and artistic space where citizens and tourists can enjoy and create memories together, transcending the mere street of murals. We will also do our best to create sustainable tourism infrastructure that preserves the region's identity and cultural assets."
