어촌신활력증진사업은 기존 어촌뉴딜사업과 어촌신활력사업의 성과를 계승해 어촌과 어항의 생활·안전 인프라를 확충하고 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣는 사업이다. 대상지의 여건과 특성에 따라 ‘경제도약형’과 ‘어촌회복형’으로 나뉘어 맞춤형으로 추진된다.
영덕군은 이번 선정으로 국비 70억 원을 포함한 총사업비 100억 원을 4년간 투입한다. 주요 사업으로는 어항 정비, 배후 어촌마을의 정주환경 개선, 안전시설 확충, 주민 역량 강화 등이 추진된다. 군은 이를 통해 경정권역의 생활 안정 기반을 마련하고 주민 삶의 질을 높인다는 계획이다.
경정권역 주민들은 그동안 낙후된 생활·안전 인프라와 태풍 등으로 인한 잦은 월파 피해로 불편을 겪어 왔다. 특히 지난 3월 의성발 산불로 인한 피해가 더해지며 지역의 어려움이 가중된 상황에서, 이번 공모 선정은 회복의 발판이 될 것으로 기대된다.
영덕군은 이번 사업을 계기로 경정권역의 정주 여건을 획기적으로 개선하고 인구 유출을 막는 한편, 지역 공동체 회복의 거점으로 육성한다는 방침이다.
김광열 영덕군수는 “2023년과 2024년에 이어 2026년에도 해양수산부 어촌신활력증진사업 공모에 연속 선정되는 성과를 이어가고 있다”며 “이번 사업을 통해 산불 피해로 어려움을 겪은 주민들의 생활과 지역 경제를 근본적으로 회복할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
