세종특별자치시의회( ‘세종시 친보행자 환경조성을 위한 대중교통 개선 연구모임’(대표의원 최원석)이 5일 의회 청사에서 제6차 간담회를 열고 연구용역 최종보고회를 끝으로 활동을 마무리했다.
이날 간담회에는 최원석 대표의원과 김영현, 김현미 의원 등 연구모임 회원을 비롯해 세종시청 대중교통과, 도로과 관계 공무원이 참석했다. 참석자들은 고려대학교 세종산학협력단(책임연구자 오시몬 교수)으로부터 ‘세종시 정류장 보행환경 개선방안 수립 연구용역’ 결과를 보고받고, 향후 정책 반영 방안에 대해 논의했다.
이번 연구는 세종시 정류장의 구조적 요인으로 발생할 수 있는 보행자 사고 위험을 분석하고, 정류장과 횡단보도 간 안전거리 확보, 차량 정지선 이중 표시, 보행로·차도·개인형 이동장치(PM) 구역의 색상 구분 포장, BRT 접근 감응형 신호체계 구축 등 구체적인 시설 개선 방안을 제시했다.
특히 연구모임은 세종시의 BRT(간선급행버스체계)가 전국적인 모범사례로 평가받는 만큼, 효율성과 동시에 보행자 안전을 함께 고려한 인프라 개선이 필요하다는 데 의견을 모았다. 의원들은 무단횡단 방지, 신호 인지도 향상, 정류장 진출입 안전 확보 등을 위한 제도적 보완과 예산 반영의 중요성을 강조했다.
