【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청(교육감 임종식)은 ‘제13회 전국이중언어말하기대회’에서 경북 대표로 참가한 학생 3명이 모두 교육부장관상을 수상했다고 11일 밝혔다.
지난 8일 서울 LG사이언스파크 ISC통합지원센터에서 열린 대회는 교육부와 LG가 공동 주최하고, 국가평생교육진흥원과 한국외국어대학교가 주관했다.
이주배경학생의 이중언어 능력과 문화적 정체성을 키우기 위해 매년 열리는 행사다.
올해는 페르시아어를 포함한 18개 언어권 학생들이 참여했으며, ‘자아·문화·경험·사람’ 가운데 한 가지 주제를 정해 한국어와 부모의 모국어로 발표하는 방식으로 진행됐다. 전국 초·중등부 54명이 본선에 올라 열띤 경연을 펼쳤다.
경북 대표로는 구미 해마루초 김효린 학생(중국어 부문·초등부 동상), 경산 하양여중 MENDBAYAR OYUNDARI 학생(몽골어 부문·중등부 은상), 칠곡 순심여중 이수민 학생(우즈베크어 부문·중등부 동상) 등 3명이 참가했다.
세 학생은 자신만의 언어적 역량과 문화적 감수성을 당당히 표현해 모두 교육부장관상이라는 성과를 거뒀다. 수상자에게는 상장과 상품, ‘LG와 함께하는 사랑의 다문화학교 언어과정’ 참여 기회가 주어졌으며, 지도교사에게도 부상이 수여됐다.
임종식 교육감은 “학생들이 자신의 뿌리 언어와 문화를 소중히 여기며 한국 사회 속에서 자긍심을 키워가고 있다”며 “이중언어교육 지원을 강화해 세계 속에서 활약할 수 있는 글로벌 인재로 성장하도록 돕겠다”고 말했다.

The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on the 11th that all three students representing Gyeongbuk in the 13th National Bilingual Speech Contest received the Minister of Education Award.
The contest, held on the 8th at the LG Science Park ISC Integrated Support Center in Seoul, was co-hosted by the Ministry of Education and LG, and organized by the National Institute for Lifelong Education and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
This annual event aims to foster bilingualism and cultural identity in students from immigrant backgrounds.
This year, students from 18 language backgrounds, including Persian, participated. They chose a topic among "self, culture, experience, and people" and presented in both Korean and their parents' native languages. Fifty-four students from elementary and middle schools across the country advanced to the finals and competed fiercely.
Three students representing Gyeongbuk participated: Kim Hyo-rin from Gumi Haemaru Elementary School (Bronze Prize in the Chinese Language Category, Elementary School), Mendbayar Oyundari from Gyeongsan Hayang Girls' Middle School (Silver Prize in the Mongolian Language Category, Middle School), and Lee Su-min from Chilgok Sunsim Girls' Middle School (Bronze Prize in the Uzbek Language Category, Middle School).
All three students proudly demonstrated their unique linguistic prowess and cultural sensitivity, winning the Minister of Education Award. The winners received certificates, prizes, and the opportunity to participate in the "LG Love Multicultural School Language Program," and their instructors also received prizes.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik stated, "Students are cherishing their native languages and cultures and fostering a sense of pride in Korean society. We will strengthen our support for bilingual education to help them grow into global talents capable of playing an active role in the world."
