최근 APEC 정상회의, 한중정상회담 등을 통해 한국과 중국 양국 간 우호적 관계가 강화되고 있는 가운데 맺은 경제협력의 결실이다.
현대차그룹은 중국 수소연료전지시스템법인 ‘HTWO 광저우’가 중국 상용차업체 카이워그룹과 공동 개발한 8.5m 수소연료전지버스가 지난 11일 현지 버스사업 국유기업인 광저우국영버스그룹이 발표한 ‘수소연료전지 도시버스 구매 프로젝트’ 입찰 결과, 종합평가 1위로 최종 낙찰에 성공했다고 18일 밝혔다.
광저우국영버스그룹은 이번 프로젝트를 통해 수소버스 총 50대를 도입할 예정이다. 이중 절반에 해당되는 25대를 1위 선정 업체인 HTWO 광저우와 카이워그룹이 연내 공급하고 실제 운행에 투입할 계획이다.
이번 수소버스 도입을 통해 그동안 전기버스 중심으로 운영돼 온 광저우시의 대중교통 체계가 도시형 친환경 교통 인프라 전환에 더욱 박차를 가할 것으로 기대된다.
현대차그룹은 28년 간 쌓아올린 수소기술력을 바탕으로 세계 최고 수준의 수소연료전지시스템 연구개발 및 양산 능력을 갖추고 있다. HTWO 광저우는 올해 말까지 차량 1000대 이상에 적용할 수 있는 수소연료전지시스템을 현지에 누적 공급할 계획으로, 우수한 기술력을 현지에서 지속 인정받아 왔다.
