【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=영진전문대학교 동물보건과 전공연구회 ‘애니션’이 지난 17일 대구 공항교 강변공원에서 반려견과 함께하는 환경정화 활동인 ‘펫깅’을 진행했다.
이번 행사에는 1·2학년 학생 13명과 반려견들이 참여해 금호강 인근 산책로 일대에서 쓰레기를 직접 수거하며 환경 보호에 힘을 보탰다.
애니션은 지난해 전국 최초로 반려산책로를 입양한 동아리로, 대학 인근 대구 북구 공항강변로에서 연 4회 정기적으로 펫깅 활동을 이어가고 있다.
반려견과 산책하며 길가의 쓰레기를 줍는 이 활동은 반려동물 문화의 올바른 정착과 환경 보호를 동시에 실천할 수 있다는 점에서 관심을 모으고 있다.
애니션 회장 강형승 학생은 “미래 동물보건사로서 책임감을 가지고 올바른 반려 문화와 환경 보호에 앞장서고 싶다”고 포부를 밝혔다. 같은 학년 윤채연 학생도 “강아지와 산책하면서 환경봉사까지 할 수 있어 활동의 의미가 더 크다”고 소감을 전했다.
배동화 동물보건과 학과장은 “학생들이 전공 지식을 바탕으로 성숙한 반려문화를 확산하는 데 앞장서고 있어 매우 기특하다”며 “공동체와 함께하는 동물보건 전문인 양성에 더욱 힘쓸 것”이라고 강조했다.
애니션은 오는 28일 대구 남구청 인근 유기견 보호소에서도 사회봉사 활동을 이어갈 계획이다.

Donghwa Bae, head of the Animal Health Department, said, "It's truly remarkable that our students are taking the lead in spreading a mature pet culture based on their specialized knowledge. We will further strive to cultivate animal health professionals who can work with the community."
Anision plans to continue their community service activities at a dog shelter near the Nam-gu District Office in Daegu on the 28th.
