(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 18일 구청 문화공간 뜨락에서 6·25전쟁 중 제5육군병원에서 전쟁 부상자를 치료하며 공을 세운 고(故) 강석주 상병의 유족에게 화랑무공훈장을 전수했다고 밝혔다.
남동구에 따르면, 강석주 상병은 1952년 1월 3일 입대 후 부산 제5육군병원에서 복무하며, 치열했던 6·25전쟁 당시 다수의 부상자와 환자들을 치료해 전투력 유지 및 병력 손실 감소에 기여한 공로가 인정돼 화랑무공훈장 서훈 대상자로 결정됐다.
전수식엔 유족대표 강운선 씨와 동생 강일선 씨를 비롯해 아내, 자녀, 손자, 조카 등 대가족이 함께했으며, 고인의 자녀인 강운선 씨가 유가족 대표로 훈장을 전달받았다.
훈장을 수여받은 유족대표 강운선 씨는 “조국을 위해 헌신하신 아버지의 희생을 잊지 않고 명예를 되찾게 도와주신 모든 분께 감사드린다”라고 밝혔다.
