대통령실이 18일(현지시간) "한·아랍에미리트(UAE) 정상회담 계기로 AI(인공지능) 협력 200억불, 방위 산업 150억불 등 350억불 이상 경제 효과가 기대된다"고 밝혔다.
이재명 대통령과 무함마드 빈 자이드 알나하얀 UAE 대통령은 이날 오전 아부다비 카사르 알 와탄 대통령궁에서 정상회담 후 한·UAE 관계를 불가역적 항구적으로 발전시켜 나가자는 내용의 '한·UAE, 백 년 동행을 위한 새로운 도약' 공동선언을 발표했다.
강훈식 비서실장은 이날 아부다비 현지 프레스센터 브리핑에서 "(양국은) AI 데이터센터·반도체·피지컬 AI·국방·방산·에너지·자원·K 컬처 등 분야에 구체적 실질 협력 프로젝트를 추진해 나가기로 합의했다"며 이같이 전했다.
그러면서 "기대 성과가 시장 가치로 환산 시 704억불 등 총 1000억불이 넘는다"며 "원화로 150조에 달하는 만큼 이번 정상회담은 단순한 우호 과시에 멈추는 게 아닌 실질 경제 동맹 출발이 될 것"이라고 했다.
또 "(양국 정상이) 한국 국방 장비에 대한 UAE의 독자적 운영 능력 확보를 지원키로 인식을 함께했다"며 "완성형 가치 사슬 협력 모델 구축으로 150억불 규모 이상 방산 수출 사업에 한국 방산 기업 수주 가능성을 높이게 될 것"이라고 했다.
이어 (K 컬처 704억불은) AI 기반으로 첨단 산업·기술·의료·우주·항공·방산까지 포괄하는 신개념 복합 클러스터인 가칭 'UAE K City' 조성 제안에 UAE 측이 적극 관심을 표했다"며 "중동 지역 K 컬처 시장 가치는 2025년 441억불, 2030년 704억불에 달할 걸로 전망된다"고 덧붙였다.
하정우 AI미래기획수석은 "UAE가 추진 중인 초기 투자 규모만 30조에 달하는 UAE 스타게이트 프로젝트에 참여해 함께 AI·에너지 인프라를 구축키로 했다"며 "대규모 AI 데이터센터를 건설하고 안정적 운영을 위해 원전·가스·재생에너지 등을 함께 활용하는 전력망을 구축한다"고 전했다.
이어 "반도체 공급망까지 협력을 확대키로 했다"며 "이 사업을 통해 한국 스타트업 기업들이 해외 대규모 사업에 보다 많이 참여할 수 있을 것"이라고 했다.
더불어 (방산 협력은) 단순 수출·구매 구조에서 벗어나 공동 개발·현지 생산·제3국 공동 수출 등을 추진키로 했다"고 전했다.
