당진시, ‘대한민국 100대 지역투자유망사업’ 선정

충남 당진시가 추진 중인 ‘재생에너지 활용 대한민국 최대 친환경 스마트 농수산단지 조성사업’이 한국공공자치연구원(KPA)과 매경TV가 공동 주관하는 ‘대한민국 100대 지역투자유망사업’에 선정됐다. 

이번 선정으로 당진시는 미래형 농수산업 혁신 거점 조성을 위한 발판을 마련했다.

20일 당진시에 따르면, ‘대한민국 100대 지역투자유망사업’은 전국 지자체가 추진 중인 투자유치 전략과 우수 사업을 발굴해 기업과 투자자에게 지역 투자 정보를 제공하고, 지방경제 활성화와 일자리 창출을 도모하기 위해 운영되고 있다.

당진시의 스마트 농수산단지 조성사업은 총 7940억 원이 투입되는 대규모 국비복합형 프로젝트다. 사업은 스마트팜 단지 조성(5,440억 원)과 친환경 수산종합단지 구축(2,500억 원)으로 구성되며, 약 142.7ha 규모의 부지에 조성된다. 시는 향후 254.7ha(약 76만 평)까지 단계적으로 확대할 계획이다.

특히 이 사업은 한국가스공사 LNG 기지의 냉열과 YK스틸의 폐열을 재활용하는 등 재생에너지를 적극 활용해 에너지 비용 절감과 탄소중립 실현을 동시에 추진한다는 점에서 주목된다. 이를 통해 농수산 생산시설의 효율성을 높이고 환경 부담을 줄이는 ‘그린 에너지 순환형 산업생태계’ 모델을 구현할 예정이다.

당진시는 이번 사업이 지역 일자리 창출과 농수산업 경쟁력 강화, 기업 유치를 통한 지역경제 활성화로 이어질 것으로 기대하고 있다. 시 관계자는 “재생에너지 기반의 친환경 스마트 농수산단지는 당진의 지속 가능한 성장 동력이 될 것”이라며 “행정적·재정적 지원을 아끼지 않고 차질 없는 사업 추진에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
