【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=POSTECH(포항공과대학교)이 경북 지역의 유망 창업팀을 발굴하기 위한 ‘제15회 POSTECH 창업경진대회’ 결선을 지난 14일 포항 체인지업그라운드에서 성황리에 개최했다.

올해 대회에는 우주항공, AI, 로봇틱스, 소셜 플랫폼 등 다양한 분야에서 총 19개 팀이 참여했으며, 이들은 3개월 동안 창업교육·전문가 멘토링·IR 피칭·기술보호 교육 등을 거쳐 사업계획을 구체화했다. 이 가운데 10개 팀이 최종 결선 무대에 올라 혁신 아이디어와 비즈니스 모델을 발표했다.
결선 심사는 국내 스타트업 전문가들로 구성된 심사위원단이 기술력, 시장성, 성장 잠재력 등을 종합적으로 평가하는 방식으로 진행됐다. 심사에는 이석우 아우토크립트 대표, 고병철 포스텍홀딩스 대표, 김유진 스파크랩 대표, 이호재 와이앤아처 대표, 박재우 포스코기술투자 책임심사역이 참여했다.
대상은 ‘우주 실험용 위성 시스템’을 선보인 ‘BE Space’ 팀(팀장 김민수·POSTECH 기계공학과)이 차지했다. 팀에게는 상금 1,000만 원이 수여됐다. 최우수상은 ‘렉사르’ 팀(팀장 장주훈·POSTECH 컴퓨터공학과), 우수상은 ‘KA’ 팀(팀장 송준하·POSTECH 물리학과)과 ‘이음’ 팀(팀장 이민서·한동대 전산전자공학부), 인기상은 ‘Griffin Robotics’ 팀(팀장 심승현·POSTECH IT융합공학과)이 각각 수상했다.
김민수 팀장은 “3개월간 팀원들과 함께 준비하며 창업에 대한 자신감을 크게 얻었다”며 “POSTECH을 대표하는 스타트업으로 성장하겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
수상팀에는 총 2,000만 원 규모의 상금을 비롯해 체인지업그라운드 입주 지원, 포스텍홀딩스 대학창업펀드 투자 연계, 대상·최우수상 팀의 포스코 아이디어 마켓 플레이스(IMP) 서류심사 면제 등 후속 지원이 제공된다.
고병철 포스텍홀딩스 대표는 “학생들의 아이템 완성도와 시장 이해도가 눈에 띄게 높아지고 있다”며 “향후 성장이 더욱 기대된다”고 평가했다. 이정수 POSTECH 산학처장 역시 “경북 지역의 우수 인재들이 아이디어를 사업화해 유망 스타트업으로 성장할 수 있도록 전주기적 지원을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 이번 창업경진대회는 POSTECH 글로컬대학 사업의 일환으로 추진됐으며, ‘2025년 포항강소특구 이노테크 발굴 및 창업지원사업’과 ‘공공기술기반 시장연계 창업탐색지원사업’의 지원을 받아 운영됐다.

POSTECH Successfully Concludes the 15th Startup Competition to Discover Next-Generation Unicorns in Gyeongbuk
POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) successfully held the finals of the 15th POSTECH Startup Competition, designed to discover promising startup teams in the Gyeongbuk region, at the Pohang Change Up Ground on the 14th.
This year's competition saw the participation of 19 teams from diverse fields, including aerospace, AI, robotics, and social platforms. Over three months, they received entrepreneurship training, expert mentoring, investor relations (IR) pitching, and technology protection training to develop their business plans. Ten of these teams advanced to the finals stage and presented their innovative ideas and business models.
The final round was judged by a panel of domestic startup experts, who comprehensively evaluated the teams based on their technological prowess, marketability, and growth potential. Participants included Lee Seok-woo, CEO of Autocrypt, Ko Byeong-cheol, CEO of POSTECH Holdings, Kim Yu-jin, CEO of SparkLabs, Lee Ho-jae, CEO of Y&Archer, and Park Jae-woo, Senior Judge of POSCO Technology Investment.
The grand prize went to the "BE Space" team (Team Leader Kim Min-soo, Department of Mechanical Engineering, POSTECH), which presented its "Space Experiment Satellite System." The team also received a cash prize of 10 million won. The "Rexar" team (Team Leader Jang Joo-hoon, Department of Computer Science, POSTECH) received the grand prize, while the "KA" team (Team Leader Song Jun-ha, Department of Physics, POSTECH) and the "Eum" team (Team Leader Lee Min-seo, Department of Computer and Electronic Engineering, Handong Global University) received the excellence awards. The "Griffin Robotics" team (Team Leader Shim Seung-hyun, Department of IT Convergence Engineering, POSTECH) received the popularity award.
Team Leader Kim Min-soo stated, "Through the three months of preparation with my team, I gained significant confidence in starting a business. We will grow into a representative startup for POSTECH."
The winning teams will receive a total prize of 20 million won, as well as support for residency at ChangeUpground, investment from the POSTECH Holdings University Startup Fund, and exemption from document screening for the POSCO Idea Marketplace (IMP) for the grand prize and first prize winners.
Koh Byung-chul, CEO of POSTECH Holdings, commented, "The students' product development and market understanding are noticeably improving," adding, "We anticipate even greater growth in the future." Lee Jeong-soo, Dean of the POSTECH Office of Industry-Academic Affairs, also stated, "We will continue to provide full-cycle support to help talented individuals in the Gyeongbuk region commercialize their ideas and grow into promising startups."
Meanwhile, this startup competition was implemented as part of POSTECH's Glocal University project and was supported by the "2025 Pohang Innotech Discovery and Startup Support Project" and the "Public Technology-Based Market-Linked Startup Exploration Support Project."
