행정안전부 이북5도위원회 세종사무소는 세종시청에서 ‘이북5도 세종사무소 가족결연 행사’와 ‘제18회 이북도민 통일미술대전 세종시 전시회 개막식’을 연이어 개최하며 실향민·북한이탈주민 공동체 지원에 나섰다고 20일 밝혔다.
가족결연 행사는 세종 지역의 이북5도민과 북한이탈주민이 정서적 지지관계를 형성하도록 돕기 위해 매년 진행돼 왔으며, 올해는 특히 실향민 2세들로 구성된 5쌍의 결연이 새롭게 성사됐다. 행사에서는 그간 지역에서 지원 활동을 이어온 인물들에게 위원장 표창도 수여됐다.
정경조 이북5도위원장은 실향민과 북한이탈주민을 보듬어온 위원회의 역할을 언급하며, 전국에 약 880만 명에 달하는 실향민과 후손들이 큰 공동체를 이루고 있다고 설명했다. 최민호 세종시장은 지역사회가 이북5도민과 북한이탈주민에게 안정적인 생활 기반이 될 수 있도록 시 차원의 지원을 계속하겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다.
가족결연식에 앞서 시청 1층 로비에서는 ‘제18회 이북도민 통일미술대전 세종시 전시회’가 첫선을 보였다. 세종시 남북교류협력기금 특별 사업으로 마련된 이번 전시는 ‘한반도의 평화와 번영’을 주제로 서예·문인화·한국화·서양화 등 총 78점의 수상작 가운데 21점을 선정해 오는 21일까지 시민들에게 공개한다. 전시는 누구나 관람할 수 있다.
이번 행사를 통해 세종시는 실향민·북한이탈주민 지원뿐 아니라 지역사회 내 평화·통일 공감대 확대라는 두 가지 목표를 동시에 추진하며 교류 기반을 넓혀가고 있다.
