정원과 탄소중립이 결합된 새로운 개념의 '탄소 정원'이 조성된다.
전북특별자치도는 산림청이 주관한 '도심형 탄소플러스 복합 공간 조성' 공모에 선정돼 국비 22억 3,000만 원을 확보했다고 21일 밝혔다.
이 사업은 전북연구원 부지에 총 42억 8,000만(지방비 20억 5,000만 원) 원을 투입 2026년부터 2027년까지 '탄소플러스 정원'과 '탄소중립 교육홍보관'을 조성하는 프로젝트다.
'탄소플러스 정원'은 ▲ 바이오차(Biochar) 활용 토양 탄소 흡수율 증진 ▲ 빗물 관리 기술을 활용한 우수 재이용 ▲ 효율 탄소흡수 식물 식재 탄소흡수와 저장 능력이 높은 수종 식재 ▲ 바이오차 기반 토양 개선 ▲ 건축물의 옥상과 벽면을 활용한 옥상정원과 수직 정원 등 저탄소 녹화 기술을 적용해 도심형 기후 대응 공간으로 꾸며진다.
특히 '탄소중립 교육홍보관'은 목재 제품을 활용한 구조물로 건립되고 정원문화 교육과 탄소중립 실천 체험을 제공하는 시민 참여형 교육시설로 운영될 예정이다.
