세종특별자치시가 겨울철 한파로 인한 부실시공을 예방하기 위해 다음 달 19일부터 내년 2월 말까지 상수도 급수공사를 전면 중단한다.
세종시에 따르면 지반이 얼어붙는 시기에는 굴착 작업이 어렵고, 공사 이후 도로 포장재가 결빙되면 균열이나 들뜸 등 시공 품질 저하가 우려되면서, 한시적으로 급수공사를 중지하고, 공사 재개는 내년 3월 초로 계획하고 있다.
올해 안에 상수도 공급을 희망하는 시민은 오는 28일까지 급수공사를 신청하고, 12월 12일까지 공사비를 납부해야 한다. 급수공사 신청은 내년 2월 28일부터 다시 가능하다.
한편 세종시는 계량기 동파 예방을 위한 주의사항도 함께 당부했다.
계량기 보호통과 외부 수도관에는 보온재나 보온커버 등 단열 성능이 검증된 자재를 설치해야 하며, 강추위가 계속될 경우에는 수돗물을 조금씩 흘려보내는 것이 효과적이다. 계량기가 얼었을 경우에는 뜨거운 물이 아닌 미지근한 물을 이용해 서서히 녹이면 열 손상으로 인한 고장을 막을 수 있다고 안내 했다.
