이재명 대통령이 22일(현지시간) 남아프리카공화국 G20(주요20개국) 정상회의 계기로 열린 한·프랑스 정상회담에서 "양국 관계를 전략적 동반자 관계로 격상했음 좋겠다"고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 이날 오후 요하네스버그 엑스포 센터에서 에마뉘엘 마크롱 프랑스 대통령과 정상회담을 갖고 "내년에 마크롱 대통령이 국빈 방한해 줄 것"을 제안하면서 이같이 말했다. 마크롱 대톹령은 이 대통령 제안에 "계획해 보겠다"고 화답했다.
이 대통령은 "한·프랑스는 특별한 관계인데 오늘 회담을 계기로 정말 각별·특별한 관계로 더 발전하면 좋겠다"며 "문화·경제·안보·첨단 기술 등 각 분야에서 협력을 더 확고히 했음 좋겠다"고 말했다.
