【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 북구청이 팔거천변 일대에 공공 와이파이를 추가로 설치하고, 본격적인 서비스에 들어갔다고 27일 밝혔다.
북구청은 지난해 주민참여예산을 활용해 팔거천변 5개 지점에 공공 와이파이를 구축했으며, 올해는 매천역에서 매천시장역 구간에 1곳을 추가로 설치해 서비스 범위를 넓혔다.
이에 따라 산책로를 찾는 주민과 방문객들은 ‘Public Wifi Free’ 네트워크를 통해 무료로 고품질 무선 인터넷을 이용할 수 있게 됐다.
북구청 관계자는 “앞으로도 공공 와이파이 서비스 확대와 품질 개선을 꾸준히 추진해, 주민 누구나 편리하게 디지털 서비스를 이용할 수 있는 환경을 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.
배광식 북구청장은 “공공 와이파이는 주민 일상에서 편리함을 체감할 수 있는 대표적인 디지털 복지 인프라”라며, “주민 생활 편의를 최우선으로 하는 스마트 행정과 도시 기반 마련에 힘쓰겠다”고 강조했다.
