대구 달서구 ‘잘 만나보세, 뉴 새마을 운동’… 200호 성혼 커플 탄생

청년들의 자연스러운 만남 기회가 늘고, 결혼 친화적 분위기가 지역사회에 확산되면서 인구 증가에도 긍정적인 영향을 주고 있다.

통계청의 ‘2024년 출생 통계’에 따르면, 대구시 출생아 수는 2018년 이후 7년 만에 1만 명 선을 회복했다. 이 중 달서구가 2,016명으로 대구 내 구·군 가운데 출생아 수 1위를 기록했으며, 전국에서도 출생아 증가율 2위에 올랐다. 달서구의 합계출산율 역시 2015년 이후 9년 만에 반등했다. 2025년 2월 기준 대구 지역 혼인 건수는 전년 동월 대비 14.3% 증가한 19,370건으로, 2017년 이후 가장 높은 수준을 보였다.

달서구는 2016년 전국 최초로 ‘결혼장려팀’을 신설했다. 이후 청년 친화형 만남 프로그램과 인식 개선 활동을 꾸준히 펼치며, 강요가 아닌 자연스러운 유도 방식으로 결혼 문화 변화에 힘을 쏟아왔다. 이번에 탄생한 200호 성혼 커플도 결혼·출산 업무 협약기관의 자발적 참여로 연결되며 정책 효과를 보여줬다.

지난해 7월에는 저출산 대응을 위한 출산장려팀도 신설했다. ‘출산BooM 달서’ 브랜드를 내세워 12개 분야 전문가 자문단을 운영하고, 인공지능 기반 출생축하 서비스, MZ세대 맞춤형 정보 플랫폼 구축 등 다양한 혁신 정책을 도입하고 있다. 그 결과, 출생아 수는 지난해 10월부터 올해 6월까지 9개월 연속 전년 동기 대비 증가했다. 달서구의 출생아 증가율은 16.9%로 전국(9.6%), 대구시(15.5%)를 모두 웃돌았다.
