파주시가 28일 금촌어울림센터 교육장에서 '파주시 지속가능발전위원회'를 개최하고 지속가능발전 지표 전반에 대한 점검에 나선다.
이번 회의는 「파주시 지속가능발전 기본계획」 수립 1년을 맞아 정책 이행 상황을 진단하고, 향후 실행계획을 구체화하기 위해 마련됐다.

파주시가 사전 점검한 결과, 2024년 전체 64개 성과지표 중 50개를 달성해 약 78%의 달성률을 기록했다.
미달성 지표는 14개였다.
2025년에는 10월 말 기준 30개 지표를 달성했으며, 나머지 34개 지표는 현재 추진 중이다.
위원회는 김경일 파주시장을 포함해 경제·사회·환경·제도 등 각 분야 전문가 총 30명으로 구성됐다.
이날 회의에서는 ▲2024년 지표 성과 진단 및 2025년 추진 현황 점검 ▲지표별 취약 영역 분석 ▲정책 개선 방향 ▲2026년 실행계획 수립 등이 집중 논의될 예정이다.
파주시는 이번 점검 결과를 향후 지표관리 계획에 반영해 균형 잡힌 지속가능발전을 추진하고, '지속가능 선도도시'로의 도약을 가속화한다는 방침이다.
김경일 파주시장은 "지속가능발전 지표는 현재 파주시의 수준을 객관적으로 진단하고 미래 정책 방향을 설정하는 중요한 나침반"이라며 "위원회에서 논의된 과제들을 실효성 있는 정책으로 구체화해 지속 가능한 도시 기반을 더욱 견고히 다질 것"이라고 밝혔다.
한편, 파주시는 2026년 지속가능발전 분야 주요 행사 개최지로 선정됐다.
상반기에는 지방정부 간 교류 활성화를 위한 '2026년 이클레이 지방정부 정기회의'가, 하반기에는 '2026년 경기도 지속가능발전대회'가 파주시에서 열릴 예정이다.
