중구청은 지난 20일부터 21일까지 이틀간 강릉에서 열린 ‘2025년 지방세 납세자 권익증진 우수사례 통합 발표대회’에서 우수상을 수상했다고 밝혔다. 이번 행사는 행정안전부가 주최했다.
이 대회는 전국 지방자치단체의 납세자 보호제도 운영 모범사례를 발굴하고 확산하기 위해 2019년부터 매년 열리고 있다. 올해는 전국에서 접수된 91건 중 서면 평가를 거쳐 최종 13개 지자체가 본선에 진출해 경쟁을 펼쳤다.
중구는 ‘나도 아이도 행복한 세상, 세금을 직접 찾아드려요’를 주제로, 출산·양육 가정의 주택 취득세 감면 환급을 놓치는 사례를 줄이기 위한 방안을 발표했다. 중구는 행정복지센터에서 이뤄지는 출생신고와 동시에 취득세 감면 대상 여부를 확인해, 대상 가정에 감면 신청을 안내하는 절차를 마련했다.
이 과정에서 중구 공무원이 한국지역정보개발원과 협업해 감면 대상자를 직접 확인했으며, 이를 통해 29가구가 총 1억 5000여만 원의 취득세를 환급받는 성과를 냈다. 또한 비대면 감면 신청이 가능하도록 위택스 시스템 개선도 행정안전부에 건의해 적극행정을 펼쳤다는 평가다.
류규하 중구청장은 “앞으로도 납세자 권익 보호를 위해 지속적으로 노력하겠다”며 “지방세와 관련해 궁금한 점이 있으면 언제든 납세자보호관에 문의해 달라”고 당부했다.

Jung-gu District established a process to check eligibility for acquisition tax reductions at the same time as birth registration at administrative welfare centers and to guide eligible families through the application process.
During this process, Jung-gu officials collaborated with the Korea Local Information Development Institute to directly identify eligible taxpayers, resulting in 29 households receiving a total of 150 million won in acquisition tax refunds. Furthermore, the district submitted a proposal to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to improve the WeTax system to enable remote tax reduction applications, demonstrating its proactive approach.
