【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=3대 유성우 중 하나로 꼽히는 ‘쌍둥이자리 유성우’가 12월 중순 절정기를 맞는 가운데, 증평 좌구산천문대가 오는 13일 오후 10시부터 별천지공원에서 특별 관측회를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
쌍둥이자리 유성우는 소행성 ‘파에톤’에서 떨어져 나온 입자들이 지구 대기와 마찰하며 발생하는 현상으로, 매년 12월 가장 많은 유성이 떨어지는 겨울 밤하늘의 대표적 우주 이벤트다.
특히 올해는 기상 조건이 좋을 경우 시간당 최대 150개의 유성이 밤하늘을 가르며 떨어지는 장관을 연출할 것으로 기대된다.
이번 관측회 참가자들은 천문대 해설사와 함께 △겨울철 별자리 설명 △유성우 관측 팁 △실시간 하늘 관측 등 다양한 프로그램을 체험할 수 있다.
좌구산천문대 네이버 예약을 통해 선착순 200명을 모집하며, 평소 높은 관심을 받는 프로그램인 만큼 조기 마감이 예상된다.
