국가무형문화재 판소리 ‘수궁가’ 준보유자인 정옥향 명창이 창극 무대의 한가운데서 다시 한 번 존재감을 드러낸다.
전통 판소리 〈뺑파전>을 창극으로 재구성한 〈신 뺑파전〉이 오는 13일 서울 중구 구민회관에서 공연되며, 작품의 중심축은 단연 정옥향 명창의 해석과 연기다.

〈신 뺑파전〉은 고전 뺑파전을 바탕으로 하되 판소리 〈심청가〉의 한 대목을 차용한 독특한 구성을 더해 새로운 무대로 재탄생한 작품이다.
이러한 재구성의 핵심에는 정 명창의 음악적 해석이 놓여 있다.
