의정부지역사회교육협의회가 한국마사회 의정부지사의 기부금 지원사업에 선정되어 특수학급 학생들을 위한 정서 회복 및 보호 감수성 향상 융합 프로그램을 운영 중이다.
'몸과 마음을 지키는 힘 예술로 키워요'라는 주제로 진행되는 이번 프로그램은 한국마사회 의정부지사로부터 500만원을 지원받아 추진되고 있다.

의정부 지역 초·중·고등학교 4개교 특수학급을 대상으로 리듬운동, 성폭력 예방 교육, 칠보공예 활동을 총 5회기에 걸쳐 운영한다.
프로그램은 음악에 맞춰 몸을 움직이는 리듬운동과 예술적 창작을 통한 칠보공예 체험, 그리고 성 인지 감수성 및 자기 보호 교육을 결합한 것이 특징이다.
학생들의 정서적 안정과 자존감 향상, 자기 보호력 강화를 돕는 데 중점을 두고 있다.
프로그램에 참여한 한 고등학교 특수학급 학생은 "처음으로 리듬운동과 칠보공예를 체험하게 되었다.
음악에 맞춰 몸을 움직이니 즐겁고, 칠보공예를 통해 나만의 작품을 만들어 나를 표현할 수 있어 좋다"고 소감을 전했다.
또 다른 중학교 특수학급 학생은 "성교육을 통해 궁금했던 점을 해결하고, '동의의 중요성'을 다시 생각하게 되었다"며 프로그램에 만족감을 나타냈다.
의정부지역사회교육협의회 이주열 회장은 "한국마사회 의정부지사(박성균 지사장) 기부금 지원사업을 통해 특수학급 학생들이 정서적 안정과 자기 보호 역량을 높일 뜻깊은 기회가 되었다"며 "앞으로도 장애인, 취약계층에게 맞춤형 교육을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.
