브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 정동영 통일부 장관이 최근 제기된 통일교 관련 특검 의혹에 대해 "근거없는 낭설"이라며 전면 부인했다.
정 장관은 11일 통일부 기자단에 배포한 입장문에서 자신이 윤영호 전 통일부 세계본부장과 부적절한 관계나 지원을 한 적이 없다면서 "윤영호씨를 야인 시절 단 한 번 만난 적이 있다. 당시 국회의원이나 공직에 있지 않았다"고 밝혔다.
정 장관은 윤 전 본부장을 만난 것은 2021년 9월 30일 경기도 가평 천정궁 통일교 본부를 잠시 방문했을 때가 유일하다는 설명이다.
당시 그는 고교 동창 김희수 전 전북도의회 의장 등 7~8명과 함께 강원도 여행 중 동행자의 제안으로 본부를 방문했고, 윤 전 본부장과 통상적인 통일 관련 이야기를 나눈 뒤 10분 정도 차를 마신 것뿐이라고 밝혔다.
이후 장관과 윤 전 본부장은 연락이나 만남을 가진 적이 없으며, 통일교 한학자 총재와도 면식이 없다고 덧붙였다.
정 장관은 또 30년 정치 경력 동안 금품 관련 사건에 연루된 적이 없다면서 이번 의혹을 제기한 일부 언론에 대해선 민형사상 책임을 물을 계획이라고 강조했다.
앞서 일부 언론은 윤 전 본부장이 김건희 특검팀 조사에서 전재수 해양수산부 장관과 정동영 통일부 장관 등이 통일교를 지원했다고 진술했다고 보도한 바 있다. 윤 전 본부장은 통일교 청탁 의혹 핵심 인물로, ‘건진법사’ 전성배 씨를 통해 김건희 여사에게 교단 현안 청탁과 고가 금품 전달 혐의 등으로 재판을 받고 있다.

Former Director Yoon, a key figure in the alleged solicitation of Unification Church favors, is currently on trial on charges of soliciting Kim Kun-hee on church issues and delivering expensive gifts through "Geonjin Beopsa" Jeon Seong-bae.
