이번 평가는 경상북도 환동해지역본부 해양수산과 주관으로 진행됐으며, 어선어업, 양식어업, 유통·가공, 어업 대전환 등 4개 부문을 대상으로 지표 심사를 통해 우수 지자체를 선정했다.
심사에서는 수산물 유통·가공 기반 강화, 어업 혁신 추진 실적, 어촌경제 회복력 등이 종합적으로 평가됐다. 영덕군은 지역 내 수산 가공 및 유통기업의 매출 증대와 관련 산업 활성화를 견인한 점이 높은 평가를 받았다.
또한 지난 3월 발생한 경북 산불 피해에 대응해 어촌어항재생 분야 공모사업을 적극 추진한 결과, 축산면 경정권역 100억 원, 경정1·3리 76억 원 등 총 176억 원의 사업비를 확보한 점도 수산행정 발전에 크게 기여한 것으로 평가됐다.
정제훈 해양수산과장은 “이번 수상은 영덕군 수산업 발전을 위해 현장에서 힘써온 어업인과 수산기업 덕분”이라며 “앞으로도 수산업 경쟁력 강화, 청년 어업인 육성, 수산식품 산업화 등 지속 가능한 수산업 발전을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Yeongdeok County received high marks for driving increased sales for local fisheries processing and distribution companies and revitalizing related industries.
Furthermore, in response to the Gyeongbuk wildfires that occurred in March, the city actively pursued a public offering for the restoration of fishing villages and fishing ports. This resulted in securing a total of KRW 17.6 billion in funding, including KRW 10 billion for the Gyeongjeong district in Chuksan-myeon and KRW 7.6 billion for Gyeongjeong 1 and 3-ri. This was also recognized as a significant contribution to the advancement of fisheries administration.
