경주시는 동천~황성 도시숲 조성사업 추진과 연계해 황성 제2지하차도의 운영방안에 대한 주민 설문조사를 실시하고 있다고 16일 밝혔다.
황성 제2지하차도는 동천동과 황성동을 연결하는 생활도로로, 현재 차량은 지하차도를 통해 통행하고 상부 공간은 보행로로 활용되고 있다. 그러나 지하차도 구조로 인한 보행 동선 단절과 안전성 문제, 도시 경관 개선 필요성이 지속적으로 제기돼 왔다.
이에 경주시는 공원조성계획 및 기본설계 용역 추진 과정에서 지하차도의 기능과 역할을 재검토하고, 현행 유지 방안과 도로를 평면화해 보행 중심 공간으로 전환하는 방안을 두고 주민들의 의견을 직접 수렴하기로 했다. 설문 결과는 기술적 검토와 함께 향후 도시숲 조성계획 수립을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 예정이다.
설문조사는 온라인과 오프라인을 병행해 진행된다. 온라인 설문은 경주시 홈페이지를 통해 참여할 수 있으며, 오프라인 설문은 황성동 행정복지센터 비치 및 현장 대면조사 방식으로 이뤄진다. 조사 기간은 이달 말까지다.
