고양특례시가 시민 중심의 대중교통 체계 구축을 위해 버스 노선 전면 개편에 나선다.
고양시는 지난 15일 고양인재교육원에서 버스 노선체계 개편 연구용역 1차 중간보고회를 개최하고, 현행 버스 노선의 문제점 분석 결과와 개선 방향을 공유했다고 16일 밝혔다.

이정화 제2부시장과 노선체계 개편 TF팀, 경기연구원 김채만 선임연구위원 등이 참석한 가운데 진행된 이번 보고회에서는 용역사인 스튜디오갈릴레이와 고양연구원이 교통카드 빅데이터와 시민 의견을 기반으로 분석한 결과를 발표했다.
보고회에서는 현행 버스 노선체계의 구조적 문제점으로 △버스 유형별 역할 혼재 △버스 인가 대비 미운행 실태 △BRT 구간 운영 비효율 △노선 굴곡도와 중복도 △지역 간 대중교통 서비스 불균형 △편중된 차고지 입지 등 6가지가 지적됐다.
이번 용역은 철도와 버스, 시내버스와 마을버스의 역할을 재정립하고 대중교통수단 간 연계성을 강화하며 운영 효율화 방안을 마련하기 위해 추진됐다.
시는 이러한 문제점을 해소하기 위해 "높은(高) 정시성으로 시민에게 신뢰(陽)받는 GOYANG BUS"를 비전으로 설정했다.
주요 개편 전략으로는 △GTX-A, 3호선(일산선), BRT 등 간선 중심의 노선체계 확립 △내부 생활권 연계 강화 △마을버스 운행계통 조정 △대중교통서비스 취약지역 대상 노선 조정 및 신설 △권역 간 연결성 강화 등을 제시했다.
시 관계자는 "중간보고회에서 논의된 의견을 중심으로 내년 상반기 중 시민을 대상으로 설명회를 진행할 예정"이라며 "추가 의견을 종합적으로 검토해 시민의 실질적인 교통 편의를 높일 수 있는 노선 개편안을 마련하겠다"고 밝혔다.
한편 이동환 고양시장은 시민의 발이 되는 대중교통 개선을 통해 시민 삶의 질 향상에 주력하고 있으며, 이번 노선체계 개편은 고양시 대중교통 정책의 중요한 전환점이 될 것으로 기대된다.
