(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 부평구가 지난 15일 구청에서 ‘부평 미쓰비시 줄사택 종합정비계획 수립 용역’ 중간보고회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
부평구에 따르면, 줄사택은 일제강점기 미쓰비시 제강에 강제 동원된 노동자들의 합숙 공간으로 조성되어, 광복 이후에도 부평 지역 노동자들의 주거지로 활용되면서 근현대 산업사·생활사를 담고 있는 근대건축유산이다.
지난 2024년 8월 국가등록문화유산으로 부지(토지)만 우선 등록되었으며, 건축물까지 등록·보존하기 위한 절차가 진행 중이다.
이번 용역은 줄사택 건축물 보존을 위한 첫 단계로 학술조사, 건축물 실측조사, 활용 계획 수립 등을 수행해 종합정비계획을 마련하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.
중간보고회에는 차준택 구청장을 비롯해 부구청장, 지역구 의원, 자문단, 관계 전문가 등이 참석해 그동안의 용역 진행 상황을 청취하고 보존 범위, 활용 계획 등 최종 정비 계획 수립을 위한 주요 안건을 논의했다.
부평구는 이번 보고회에서 논의된 안건을 토대로 줄사택의 구체적인 보존·복원 방향을 도출하고, 내년 2월 예정된 최종보고회에서 정비 계획을 확정할 예정이다.
차준택 구청장은 “오늘 논의된 의견들이 최종 계획 수립까지 충실히 반영되어 줄사택의 역사적 가치가 보존될 수 있기를 기대한다”며, “줄사택이 부평의 대표적인 근대건축유산이자 문화공간으로 자리매김하길 바란다”고 말했다.
