【브레이크뉴스 경산】진예솔 기자=경북도와 경산시, 울산시가 경산~울산 간 고속도로 건설을 위해 힘을 모으기로 했다.
이철우 경북도지사, 조현일 경산시장, 김두겸 울산시장은 16일 경산시청 대회의실에서 ‘경산~울산 간 고속도로 건설 공동선언문’을 채택했다.
이번 공동선언은 국토교통부가 내년 초 고시가 예정된 ‘제3차 고속도로 건설계획(2026~2030)’에 경산~울산 고속도로를 반영하기 위한 것이다.
공동선언문에는 국가 기간산업의 안정과 지역경제 활성화를 위한 핵심 인프라 구축, 영남권 상생발전과 국가 균형발전을 위한 공동 협력, 그리고 해당 사업의 필요성과 타당성을 국민과 기업, 지역사회와 공유하겠다는 내용이 담겼다.
경산시와 경북도, 울산시는 공동선언문과 범시민 서명부를 17일 국토교통부에 제출할 예정이다. 국토부는 조만간 '제3차 고속도로 건설계획'을 확정ㆍ고시할 계획이다.
김두겸 울산시장은 “울산~경산 고속도로는 울산권과 대경권을 하나의 경제권으로 이어주는 핵심 광역 교통망”이라며 “국가 균형발전 차원에서 정부가 적극적으로 검토해 국가 계획에 반드시 반영해 주길 기대한다”고 말했다.
이철우 경북도지사는 “이번 고속도로 사업은 단순한 사회간접자본 구축을 넘어 지방 경제의 혈관을 뚫는 심폐소생술과 같다”고 강조했다. 이어 “지방 소멸 위기를 극복하고 영남권 경제지도를 새로 그릴 중요한 자원이 될 것”이라고 설명했다.
조현일 경산시장도 “당초 목표였던 10만 명을 훨씬 넘어 16만 명이 넘는 시민들이 서명운동에 참여했다”며 “공동선언문과 함께 시민들의 간절한 염원을 국토교통부에 전달하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Gyeongsan City, North Gyeongsang Province, and Ulsan City plan to submit the joint declaration and a citizen signature form to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport on the 17th. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to finalize and announce the "Third Expressway Construction Plan" soon.
Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-kyum stated, "The Ulsan-Gyeongsan Expressway is a key metropolitan transportation network that connects the Ulsan and Greater Gyeonggi regions into a single economic zone. I hope the government will actively review this project and incorporate it into national plans in the interest of balanced national development."
North Gyeongsang Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo emphasized, "This expressway project goes beyond simply building social infrastructure; it's like CPR, revitalizing the local economy." He added, "It will serve as a crucial resource for overcoming the crisis of local extinction and redrawing the economic map of the Yeongnam region."
Gyeongsan Mayor Cho Hyun-il also announced, "Over 160,000 citizens participated in the signature campaign, far exceeding the initial goal of 100,000. I will convey the citizens' earnest wishes to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport along with the joint declaration."
