농협중앙회가 도시와 농촌 농축협의 역할을 다시 짚고, 협력 방안을 논의하는 자리를 마련했다. 도농 간 격차를 줄이고 균형 있는 발전을 이루기 위한 논의다.
농협중앙회는 12월 11일부터 이틀간 전남 여수에서 ‘대도시농축협 기능강화협의회’를 열었다고 밝혔다. 이 자리에는 강호동 농협중앙회장을 비롯해 도시농축협 조합장 등 150여 명이 참석했다.
회의의 핵심은 도시농축협의 역할을 분명히 하고, 이를 바탕으로 농촌농축협과의 협력을 어떻게 넓혀갈 것인가였다. 참석자들은 공동사업을 중심으로 한 도농상생사업 추진 방향, 경제사업 이행기준 강화, 도시농축협 역할지수 평가 개선 등 주요 과제를 공유했다.
특히 도시농축협이 단순한 금융 창구를 넘어, 농촌농축협의 경제사업을 뒷받침하는 파트너로서 어떤 기능을 수행해야 하는지에 대한 논의가 이어졌다. 이를 통해 도시와 농촌이 각자의 역할을 살리면서도 상호 보완하는 구조를 만들자는 데 의견이 모였다.
농협중앙회는 그동안 도시농축협을 중심으로 도농상생 재원을 꾸준히 조성해 왔다. 2012년부터 현재까지 조성된 도농상생기금은 8,401억 원에 이른다. 이 가운데 5,331억 원은 농촌농축협의 경제사업을 지원하는 데 사용됐고, 최근 5년간에는 151억 원 규모의 영농자재도 농촌농축협에 지원됐다.
강호동 농협중앙회장은 “도시농축협 조합장들의 노력 덕분에 도농상생의 기반이 이어져 왔다”며 “도시와 농촌 농축협이 함께 성장하는 구조를 통해 농협의 가치인 ‘농심천심’을 실천해 나가자”고 말했다.
이번 협의회는 도시농축협의 역할을 재정립하고, 도농 협력의 방향을 점검하는 자리로, 향후 농협의 도농균형 발전 정책 논의에 참고가 될 것으로 보인다.
NongHyup Holds Conference to Strengthen Urban Agricultural Cooperatives
NongHyup (National Agricultural Cooperative Federation) has held a conference to review the role of urban agricultural cooperatives and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation with their rural counterparts.
The “Conference on Strengthening the Functions of Urban Agricultural Cooperatives” took place over two days starting on the 11th in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province. Around 150 participants, including NongHyup Chairman Kang Ho-dong and heads of urban agricultural cooperatives, attended the event.
Discussions centered on clarifying the identity and role of urban agricultural cooperatives and expanding cooperation with rural cooperatives to promote balanced urban–rural development. Key topics included joint projects for mutual growth, strengthening standards for economic business operations, and improving evaluation systems for the roles of urban cooperatives.
Participants emphasized the need for urban agricultural cooperatives to go beyond financial services and play a more active role in supporting the economic activities of rural cooperatives.
Since 2012, urban agricultural cooperatives have helped raise KRW 840.1 billion in mutual growth funds to support rural cooperatives. Of this amount, KRW 533.1 billion has been used to support rural economic projects, along with KRW 15.1 billion worth of farming materials provided over the past five years.
Chairman Kang Ho-dong said, “I appreciate the dedication of urban cooperative leaders who have worked for urban–rural coexistence. Let us continue to pursue shared growth between urban and rural cooperatives and put the values of NongHyup into practice.”
The conference served as an opportunity to reassess the role of urban agricultural cooperatives and explore ways to enhance collaboration for balanced regional development.
