김 의원에 따르면 쿠팡은 2024년 로비 지출을 전년 대비 2.5배(56억 원)로 폭증시켰고, 2025년 들어서는 로비 대상을 미 의회 차원을 넘어 백악관(White House)·국가안보회의(NSC)·국무부(DOS)·무역대표부(USTR) 등 미국 행정부 핵심 권력기관으로 확대했다.
김 의원은 “매출의 99%가 한국 국민에게서 나오는데, 그 돈으로 미국 정부에 로비해 한국 정부를 압박하는 것은 주권 침해이자 ‘쿠팡의 민낯’”이라고 지적했다.
