고양특례시가 관내 학교들과 함께 추진한 '학교와 함께하는 자원순환의 날' 행사가 지난 15일 성공리에 막을 내렸다.
이번 행사는 시 관계자들이 직접 학교를 찾아가 학생들과 함께 폐건전지와 종이팩 같은 재활용품을 수거하는 찾아가는 방식으로 진행됐다.

초등학교 5곳, 중학교 6곳, 고등학교 6곳, 유치원 1곳 등 총 17개 교육기관이 참여해 폐건전지 663kg, 종이팩 87kg을 비롯한 다량의 재활용 자원을 모았다.
시는 수집된 재활용품을 현장에서 즉시 계량하고, 배출량에 따라 소정의 보상물품을 제공했다.
또한 수거까지 직접 담당해 학생과 학교의 부담을 최소화했다는 평가를 받고 있다.
특히 이번 행사는 재활용품 배출부터 무게 측정, 보상, 수거까지 전 과정을 한자리에서 진행해 학생들이 자원순환의 전체 흐름을 직접 체험할 수 있도록 구성했다.
