【브레이크뉴스 영덕】박영재 기자=영덕군은 2016년 개통된 고속국도 30호선 상주~영덕 구간 서영덕 IC(지품면 수암리)와 지난 11월 8일 개통된 고속국도 65호선 포항~영덕 구간 남영덕 IC(남정면 양성리)를 이용하는 군민과 관광객의 교통 불편 민원이 증가함에 따라 근본적인 문제 해결을 위한 대책 마련에 나섰다.

군에 따르면 고속도로 개통 이후 일부 지역에서 접근성 저하와 이동 불편에 대한 민원이 지속적으로 제기돼 왔으며, 이에 따라 고속도로 이용 편의성을 개선하기 위한 종합적인 검토가 필요하다는 판단이다.
영덕군은 내년도 본예산에 ‘고속도로 IC 2개소 신규 개설을 위한 타당성 검토’ 용역비 3억 원을 편성하고, 고속국도 IC 추가 설치 기준 및 운영에 관한 지침을 토대로 2026년 1월부터 객관적이고 전문적인 타당성 검토 용역을 시행할 계획이다. 이를 통해 지역 여건에 부합하는 최적의 대안을 도출한다는 방침이다.
아울러 군은 용역 추진과 병행해 한국도로공사와의 업무 협의는 물론 국토교통부와의 고속도로 연결 협의 등 관계 기관과의 긴밀한 협조를 통해 고속도로 개통 이후 발생한 불편 사항에 대해 신속하고 능동적으로 대응할 계획이다.
강신열 영덕군 건설과장은 “고속도로 개통은 지역 경제 활성화와 관광객 유입에 중요한 계기가 되지만, 그 과정에서 발생하는 주민들의 실질적인 교통 불편을 해소하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “이번 타당성 검토 용역을 시작으로 가용한 행정력을 집중해 군민에게는 편리한 일상을, 방문객에게는 쾌적한 도로 환경을 제공할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Yeongdeok County has allocated 300 million won in its budget for next year's "Feasibility Study for the Construction of Two New Expressway ICs." Based on guidelines for the installation and operation of additional expressway ICs, the county plans to conduct an objective and professional feasibility study starting in January 2026. Through this, the county plans to identify the optimal alternative suited to local conditions.
Furthermore, in parallel with the project implementation, the county plans to closely collaborate with relevant organizations, including the Korea Expressway Corporation and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport regarding highway connectivity, to promptly and proactively address any inconveniences that may arise following the opening of the expressway.
Kang Shin-yeol, Director of the Construction Division of Yeongdeok County, stated, "The opening of the expressway is a crucial opportunity to revitalize the local economy and attract tourists, but relieving the actual traffic inconveniences residents experience during the process is paramount. Starting with this feasibility study, we will focus our available administrative resources to ensure a convenient daily life for county residents and a pleasant road environment for visitors."
