브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 한국전력공사가 발주한 6700억원 규모의 설비 장치 입찰에서 8년간 담합을 벌인 혐의를 받는 전력기기 업체 임직원 2명이 구속됐다.
23일 법조계에 따르면 서울중앙지법 이정재 영장전담 부장판사는 22일 LS일렉트릭과 일진전기 소속 전·현직 임직원 2명에 대해 공정거래법 위반 혐의로 구속영장을 발부했다.
앞서 서울중앙지검 공정거래조사부는 LS일렉트릭 등 전력기기 제조·생산업체 임직원 5명에 대해 구속영장을 청구했다. 그러나 법원은 일진전기, 중전기조합, 중소기업 동남 임직원 등 나머지 3명에 대해서는 도주 우려가 없다는 등의 이유로 영장을 기각했다.
검찰에 따르면 이들 업체는 2015년부터 2022년까지 한전이 실시한 가스절연개폐장치 구매 일반경쟁·지역 제한 입찰에서 사전에 물량을 배분하기로 합의한 뒤 순차적으로 낙찰받은 혐의를 받고 있다.
공정거래위원회는 당초 담합 규모를 약 5600억원으로 판단했으나, 검찰은 수사 과정에서 이를 6700억원대로 보고 있다. 검찰은 담합으로 낙찰가가 상승하면서 전기요금 인상 등 소비자 피해로 이어졌다고 판단했다.
가스절연개폐장치는 발전소와 변전소에 설치돼 과도한 전류를 신속히 차단함으로써 전력 설비를 보호하는 핵심 장치다.
앞서 공정거래위원회는 이들 업체에 시정명령과 함께 총 391억원의 과징금을 부과하고, 효성중공업 등 6개 사를 검찰에 고발했다. 검찰은 지난 10월 관련 업체들에 대한 압수수색을 실시하며 수사를 본격화했다.
