개교업무추진단은 학교 설립 준비부터 개교 이후 초기 운영까지 전 과정을 지원하는 총괄기구로 지난 6년간 유치원 8개원, 초등학교 16개교, 중학교 11개교, 고등학교 4개교 등 총 42개교의 안정적인 개교를 지원해 왔다.
인천시교육청은 학교를 미래형 교육 공간으로 조성하기 위해 설계 단계부터 수요자 의견을 반영하는 참여형 체계를 강화하고 있으며, 전국 최초로 운영 중인 ‘신설학교 공간지원단’과 소통협의회를 기반으로 기획·설계·준공·개교 준비 전 과정에 학생·학부모·전문가 의견을 폭넓게 반영하고 있다.
